The term Metabolic Makeover refers to a diet that is developed and designed according to the specific state of metabolic functioning of an individual by means of selecting foods that encourage a healthy functioning metabolism, which then in turn promotes weight loss and simply just a general feeling of well-being, giving you more energy and a feeling of better health. In essence this refers to the complete changing or make over of ones dietary habits in order to increase your metabolism.

Over the years many medical professionals was of the belief that all individuals and their metabolisms worked and functions the same, however they have learned that this is not the case and that we inherit how our metabolism functions, which could be slow functioning or and increased function in our metabolism, depending on our genetic makeup.

People who have fast metabolisms are those who can eat anything and everything and the largest portions thereof, and still not gain any weight from it, yet there are people who are extremely alert of what food they consume and that it has to be healthy or diet foods, but yet they are unable to lose weight or even still gain weight, despite their healthy eating habits, this would then be classified as a person with a slow metabolism who struggles to lose weight and gains weight easily.

Because there is no medication available that can speed up ones metabolism to aid in having and maintaining a healthy weigh, the Metabolic Makeover programme was designed and developed for people who battle with issues relating to their metabolism. This is done by the selection of specific foods that will in turn increase your metabolism.

Most commonly we can increase our metabolism by replacing some of the carbs that we consume, such as starches and bread, with protein specifically found in meat, dairy products and poultry and thus should also be a formula to in turn cause some weight loss, but do not completely cut out carbohydrates, as you will simply head for further dietary problems by doing so. Your body does require carbs in order to function healthily.

With the above said, for some people easing back and cutting down on animal protein could be more beneficial and work better in increasing your metabolism. Some people have found that their metabolisms are increased by consuming more fruit and vegetables, while cutting down on protein and dairy products and taking in more vegetable oils.

All the traditional foods that are low fat and considered to be diet foods, do not have much fat burning effect, thus not aiding in weight loss at all, so one should rather exclude these items from your diet, the aim to weight loss id to burn more calories and reduce fat intakes, while increasing your metabolism.

Overall, the goal of the Metabolic Makeover is to makeover your diet and your food intake, assess the food you consume and alter this completely so foods that aid your body and your metabolism to become healthier and better functioning.
