Those who practice the ancient Japanese healing arts have for years been located primarily on the West coast, and this has not changed. Not only is this the part of the country where many Japanese-Americans live, but these westerners are often more open to different ideas about health and wellness. Oregon is an open market for those seeking a Portland Reiki master certification.

Even if one has a background that includes a rich family history of healing, modern clients are smart to insist upon their practitioner being certified. Anyone engaged in the care of others should be willing to be under scrutiny from their peers, as well as their clients. Having a certificate can also allow a practitioner to be listed in professional journals as well as healthcare provider lists.

Alternative healers have often been given a bad name by those who read one book and decide they are experts in the field. Not only that, but some people get into the practice intending only to extort money out of their clients. Such individuals do not seek to heal, but to harm the public.

Online courses are available for anyone who has read a book and wishes to become an expert. Energy healing can bring balance, peace, health and mental well being to anyone who feels they need healing. This is a gift that the healer gives to all who come to them for their help, advice, and treatment.

When one claims to be a healer, but is there to do harm, the homeopathic industry as a whole suffers a detriment to the status and reputation of everyone engaged in the art. This form of malpractice is just as dangerous as any other, and this is why professional certificates are necessary. When a client stumbles upon a disingenuous or untrained practitioner, reporting them is vital to the practice as a whole.

A good percentage of the clients in these clinics are individuals facing life-threatening illness. An unlicensed practitioner with no certification can do catastrophic harm to the basic mental and emotional well being of a patient who is HIV positive or facing chemotherapy. Patients are encouraged to check the background of any clinic or practitioner they seek to employ.

Shopping around and requesting references is one way that a patient can protect themselves. If a practitioner is unwilling to provide references, or simply does not have the background and experience to do so, patients are encouraged to find a better option. A practitioner with a solid background and good reputation is out there for one willing to take the time to find them.
