A fire system is one of the most useful and dangerous areas in a home setup. Keeping the area clean can help reduce the dangers that can occur from a poorly maintained fire place. It also gives the fire place a long duration for longer years of use. It also ensures that the home is safe from fires and here are some of the guidelines to chimney cleaning in the home.

It is an activity that can be done by an individual or with the help of professionals. If it is the person doing it on their own, they should know their way around the maintenance process. The process should be done at least two times a year for a frequently used fireplace. This will ensure that the dust particles that accumulate over the long periods are removed.

To clean a fireplace, there are specialized tools for the procedures. The tools that are required to clean the place are flexible rods to reach the exhaust area, a wire or poly brush for scrubbing, ropes, covering cloths and collecting buckets or dustbins. The other tools required are the ones to protect the person doing the cleaning. They include; a helmet, hand gloves, and masks. They protect from the rough surfaces, falling debris and dust particles.

There are several available ways for the procedure. The most used are top to bottom which is executed with a flexible rod, bottom to top done using a rope, dual line method is done with both a rope and a flexible rod and the weight method done with a rope. The method used will be determined by the size of the fireplace and the materials or tools available for the process.

In the process, the walls of the fire system are the first areas to get cleaned. This is where suit accumulates forming pieces of rocks and soil. They may also form debris, and they should be removed first. They are brushed off with the flexible rod and brush and collected at the bottom with a bucket or the piece of cloth available for the cleaning.

When the exhaust area is cleaned, the dirt and debris from the walls accumulate at the firewood area. They need to be collected and removed to provide space and a clean area for the fire to be lit. The ash that has accumulated over the periods of use need to be removed too. When all the dirt and debris have been removed, check the fireplace if it requires any repair. If so, repair them and ensure the fireplaces can be used.

The cleaning gear will protect the body of the person cleaning. The dust produced can cause allergic reactions in the body, and the mask stops the entrance of the dust into the body.

When a fire system is cleaned, it makes the fireplace comforting and enjoyable. With the above factors considered during the cleaning, the person doing the cleaning will be safe from harm. The home will also be safe from fires. It is time for people to start embracing the culture of cleaning their chimneys.
