Some type of exercise keeps the human body flexible. Taking part in team sports is one way to achieve and maintain good health. However, when high school boys play football, there are inherent risks. These young athletes can turn to a Redondo Beach Chiropractor for pain alleviation when an accident occurs.

According to researchers, a third of all high school football players are hurt on the field. The spine consists of small hollow bones called vertebrae. They can be misaligned as a result of the player being tackled. Pressure is exerted against one or more of the nerve roots located next to the spine. This pressure can cause significant pain.

A sore back can result from bicycle riding. Strains and sprains occur on the golf course. Runners jar the body with each footfall and may compress the vertebrae in the back.

Swimming is not subject to as many dangers, if you discount the possibility of drowning. Competitive swimming however can affect the lumbar region of the back. Plus, everyone has heard of the injury known as tennis elbow. It occurs when the tendon attached to the elbow tears.

When an individual of any age turns to the chiropractor for assistance the first appointment will be devoted to evaluating the injury. You may undergo a spinal exam, range-of-motion testing, an x-ray and answering pertinent questions. It is only when the evaluation is complete that a plan for care can be arranged.

For back injuries, the usual course includes spinal adjustments. A series of office visits will be scheduled to administer them. You may have a mild exercise routine designed specifically for you. Massage and hot or cold compresses may also be used.

One person may notice the reduction in pain faster than another. The extent of the injury, age and any other health problems will affect the length of time it takes. The goals of bringing pain down to a tolerable level and facilitating a return to school cannot be achieved overnight.
