The human body only has two ball and socket joints. One is the hip and the other is the shoulder. The hip has the additional complication of being weight bearing. The bones are supported by a complicated network of ligaments, tendons and muscles. It is common for people to have mild to severe pain in the hip area. People who suffer from hip pain should make an appointment with a Las Vegas chiropractic office.

Often people do not even know when an injury occurred. Yet even a minor injury, a micro trauma, can develop into a serious issue. Whenever soft tissue sustains an injury, scar tissue develops to fill the affected area. Scar tissue can spread to surrounding tissue because it has the ability to branch out in all directions at once. Adhesions develop that can restrict the flexibility of the affected soft tissue. When this happens, pain is the symptom.

There are several traditional modalities that chiropractors will use, often in combination, to relieve the pain. Ultrasound can be very effective, as can massage by a knowledgeable massage therapist. Each injury and each patient is unique, but your doctor will know what is appropriate for your needs.

One thing that these traditional methods do not accomplish is to break up the adhesions. Active Release Techniques, ART, a patented series of massage movements is used to work on the affected areas. Chiropractors who use ART have taken extended training and have received ART certification.

The first part of ART is for the doctor to locate the adhesions or scar tissue in the hip area. He can actually feel the tension and tightness in the affected areas. Once located, there are a series of ART massage movements that work on breaking up the adhesions. This allows for the return of flexibility and the elimination of pain.

Hip pain is not necessarily an indication that surgery will be needed. In most cases your chiropractor can resolve your pain and the underlying cause. He will know which methods will work best for your particular case.
