The competition however should not discourage you but should inspire you to do better. The following are some points to consider during such an important phase in your life.

Generally, the coaches will be looking at your level of skill in playing the game. Excellence is something that you must work towards if you want to ensure your place in their team. Long hours of practice will be needed to sharpen your skills. You must do your best in every game to prove that you are one of the country's top players.

Though your ultimate goal might be to make it professionally, you must still perform well in the academics department. Most athletes have to maintain their average or else risk losing their place. Moreover, if you do not get chosen for the college team or make it as a professional athlete, a degree is something to fall back on.
