It may be pesticides in the food we eat. It could be the particles released into the air by exhaust systems. Asthma and allergies are disorders suffered by close to forty million adults and children. It is one-fourth of the entire population. Asthma is confirmed to be a life-threatening disease by a St. Louis MO Allergist.

There are more allergies than one can imagine. Many children are known to be allergic to peanuts, for example. A person can have an allergic reaction to dust mites, a specific food or pollen from outdoor plants. They suffer from red eyes, sneezes, and congestion. It has a negative effect on their daily lives.

Many parents hesitate to start children on a medication they might have to take for a long time. An alternate choice of care is chiropractic. The close interaction between the spine, nervous system and respiratory system all affect breathing. Research has shown a parallel between allergies and spinal abnormalities.

The chiropractic term for a misalignment is subluxation. When a child with asthma receives fifteen adjustments to the seven cervical vertebrae it may improve their lung capacity. The theory is that the adjustments relax tight muscles in the neck. That facilitates free drainage of the lymph nodes, which helps to breathe.

Parents bring their child to the chiropractor looking for a solution. They hope to relieve the symptoms caused by asthma. Chiropractic care may help avoid a course of strong medication for the child. Spinal adjustments and the way they increase lung capacity will be explained.

The child will be examined focusing on the spine. His health history will be discussed. The child may have been evaluated and his asthma confirmed. If he is having allergic reactions, they will also be talked about.

The different procedures that are available will be explained. Decompression may be used in place of adjustments. The interaction between the nerve roots and all bodily functions will be clarified to help the parents make an informed health care decision for their child.
