Lyme disease is the most pronounced tick-borne infections and has also become one of the most contagious diseases. Research has documented that there are approximately two hundred thousand new cases each year. What individuals do not know, however, is that Lyme disease can be transmitted via other means. These include through breast milk, semen and even saliva. In connection to this, the following is an article on alternative lyme therapies.

It is important to seek medical attention as soon as you begin to experience any symptoms or suspect that you may have been bitten by a tick. The doctor should be aware if you had visited any tick prone areas so as to carry out their assessments in the right manner. Diagnosis of this disease is however not easy as its symptoms resemble those of other diseases.

A person does not have to spend a fortune and waste a lot of time when treating the disease in its early stages. Doctors of ten prescribe their patients with antibiotics such as Doxycycline in the case of adults. This means that the extensive and time-consuming laboratory procedures are not necessary in this case.

There are different degrees of Lyme disease. At more complicated times; it may affect the nervous system. In this case, patients are easily treated with the administration of intravenous antibiotic. While they are efficient for the treatment process, the symptoms take some more time before they all disappear. One may experience side effects such as diarrhea and body aches.

In the case of special cases such as pregnant ladies and children who are below nine years of age and are affected by Lyme disease, alternative medication is administered. The safest and the most effective medicine in this case is Amoxicillin or Penicillin. This is because drugs such as Doxycycline have the effect of permanently staining the teeth of the young ones and even the unborn babies. Those who are allergic to penicillin are offered Erythromycin, which is also effective for treatment.

After the treatment of Lyme disease, the patients may be left with side effects as they take some time before they all go away. Most patients complain of fatigue and general body ache. One does not, however, require using medication for this as the symptoms disappear gradually without the intervention of antibiotic therapy. It may take moths, but eventually ones health will be restored.

Because most forms of treatment takes a lot of time, it is important for people to know how to prevent it so as to avoid unnecessary expenditures. One of the most effective ways is through the avoidance of deer ticks. Deer ticks are mostly located in wooded areas and also in grasslands hence it is important for one to wear appropriate clothing while passing through these areas. One should makes sure that there body is well covered up to lower the chances of being bitten.

Doctors advise that Lyme diseases be treated early in advance when there is still enough time for recovery. When a person waits until its too late, they may develop some serious complications which may not be easy to treat in the advanced stages as this is the best time to undertake the treatment since nothing much is spread in their body.
