In Ozark gymnastics is a form of sport which entails execution of exercises that require balance, agility, physical strength, flexibility, coordination, and power. At the international scale, the sport is controlled by (FIG), an international federation. This federation ensures that required standards in the game are observed at all global competitions. All nations on the globe have national authorities that have some association with the FIG in one way or another.

The sport is split into several disciplines including tumbling, aerobic, acrobatic, team gym, trampolining, artistic, and rhythmic gymnastics. Participants may be of any age, beginning with children of less than 2 years to grown-ups of both genders. Individuals who wish to be worldwide gymnasts start exercising at a very young age and take one or more disciplines as a specialty. This sport may also be exercised for purposes of recreation besides being an international competitive game.

Artistic gymnastic is the most known discipline of all the other disciplines in this field. It involves both men and women events and is incorporated in most Olympic events. Events in which women participate include vaults, floor exercises, balance beams, and uneven bars. Event for men include high bars, parallel bar, vaults, still rings, pommel horses, and floor exercises.

Points in the sport are given depending to how correctly an individual executes an event. The scoring method utilized is referred to as execution scores and are usually awarded out of ten points. Judges deduct points from the initial ten points at the start of the session to the end. However, there is a more recent technique of giving marks presently used in the United States in elite level competitions.

The new score is known as a difficulty score, which brings the total number of scores in use to 2. In a difficulty score, points are awarded as opposed to execution score where they are deducted. The difficulty score is based on the element gymnasts perform and can change relying on whether one finishes or fails to perform all skills entailed. It also relies on whether or not one links skills to each other as required.

The most common gains on the difficulty score are connection bonuses. Connection of elements is the awarding factor here because it is considered very skillful to connect two or more flight elements. Besides, it is very hard to connect a skill to another if the first skill is not performed correctly in the first place. The difficulty score allows performers to gain more points basing on how difficult the events they do are and how they execute them. There is no limit in the score one can gain here.

Many events are done singly by an individual while others involve groups or pairs. Group and pair events need a lot of synchronism and concentration among all gymnasts involved because the failure of one participant affects the whole team. There is also several pieces of equipment used in various skills of every event.

Ozark gymnastics is all based on perfecting skills. Gymnasts go through training for many years before they appear on international platforms to perform. Many gymnasts also warm up before participating in an event in order to prepare emotionally and physically.
