Contact lenses require the wearer to obtain a prescription outlining the type to purchase even if they are not meant for correction of vision. During physical examination of the eyes, the optician checks for astigmatism, hyper myopia, myopia and general eye health. Your visual strength will also be tested before prescription of Sacramento contact lenses.

When wearing them, hand washing comes first. The hands have to be dried after washing. Using the dominant hand the lens is held at the tip using the pointer finger and then the middle finger is used to pull down the lower eyelid.

The pointer finger of the less dominant hand is used in elevating the anterior eyelid. The lens is then slid gently onto the sclera while you are looking up. The fingers are then removed and the eyelids let go. Centering of lens is facilitated by closing the eyes for a moment. The same procedure is used when inserting the second lens.

In removal, hand washing precedes. They should be dried well before the process is begun. You should first look up and then pull down the posterior eyelid using the middle finger of the principal hand. The pointer finger is utilized to grasp the lens and after squeezing lens between it and the thumb, removal of the contact lens is done carefully. The eye is a very sensitive organ and the lens is a very delicate device. So, a lot of caution should be taken during the process.

The disposable ones are thrown away after a single use. Using them eliminates the need for constant cleaning and storage. However, these processes are not as hard as they are made to sound. As long as you follow the instructions given by the optician, everything will just go smoothly. There are specially made solutions for rinsing, disinfecting, protein removal and conditioning the lenses.

For comfortable and healthy contact lens wear, they have to get cared for on a daily basis. The procedure involves placing commercial cleaner drops on each on the lenses sides and rubbing gently for about twenty seconds. This is followed by thorough rinsing for about five minutes with a rinsing solution prepared commercially

After cleaning and rinsing follows soaking. This must be done using a fresh cleaning solution. Never make the mistake of reusing the solution. The soaking should last for four hours. Thereafter, the lenses are fine to be worn. In case of any lingering debris, they must be cleared away before insertion.

They should be put into a closed case meant for storing lenses if they are not in use. Saline solution should not be used for soaking them. Only the commercially made solutions designed for this purpose are to be used. The saline is not effective in disinfection process. They can remain in the case for up to thirty days if not in use. After this duration, they should be taken out for cleaning and disinfection even if they will not be used immediately. Another important thing you should observe is monthly replacement of the lens case.
