The results of peripheral neuropathy include a painful tingling and numbing sensation in your arms and legs. This includes your hands and feet. The signals from the central nervous system are prevented from being transmitted. As a leading Redondo Beach chiropractor can explain, it results in these sensations along with a weakness of the muscles.

The aging process and diabetes are commonly associated with this condition. It is a complex issue. There are numerous causes. Cancer, lupus, multiple sclerosis and AIDS are the more difficult to resolve. When peripheral neuropathy is caused by compressed nerves it is easier to resolve through chiropractic care.

This regular chiropractic care, along with destroying free radicals, is proven effective. This is accomplished by eating fresh fruit and vegetables on a regular basis. Vitamins and antioxidants are able to destroy the free radicals that can interfere with nerve transmission.

The symptoms of neuropathy that affect the legs and arms are the second most frequent complaint of those who visit a chiropractor. Spinal adjustments are proven to relieve the pressure impacting the nerve roots. When pressure is relieved, the misaligned vertebrae no longer compress the trapped nerves.

In addition to spinal adjustments there is a care method called ART, or Active Release Technique. It is not used by all chiropractors. Certification in the technique requires learning five-hundred pressure points on the body.

As with any care technique, a full evaluation of the clients condition must be done prior to any care being offered. Questions are asked to compile a medical history. A physical exam is done that includes palpating the spine and measuring strength and range of motion capabilities.

When spinal adjustments are determined to be the appropriate care method, a series of office visits will be set up to administer them. A realignment of the spinal vertebrae does not happen overnight. However, it has been recorded that nerve symptoms in some clients have been resolved in only nine applications.
